DHI is a placement method in which harvested follicles are loaded into an implanter pen so that the incision and the placement are made at the same time.
DHI loads follicles harvested by FUE into an implanter pen, so that opening the site in the scalp and placing the follicle happen as a single motion.
Unlike methods that open the sites first and place the follicles afterwards, the angle and depth are decided as the follicle goes in. That is why it is often chosen for areas where hair remains and for the front line, where flow matters.
It does take longer, because each follicle is loaded individually. MOLIV first confirms the area to be covered and the condition of the remaining hair, then plans which sections call for an implanter pen and which do not.

Does DHI require shaving?
The donor area needs shaving within a set range, but the recipient area is often left unshaven. How much is needed depends on the graft count and the area, so we confirm it during the consultation.
How does this differ from FUT and FUE?
FUT and FUE describe how follicles are harvested; DHI describes how they are placed. DHI is used at the placement stage for follicles harvested by FUE.
How long does the procedure take?
Because each follicle is loaded individually, the same graft count takes longer. It varies widely with the area and the number of grafts, so we give an estimate at the consultation.
How does recovery progress?
Mild swelling may appear for the first 2–3 days, and scabs fall away naturally over 7–14 days. Transplanted hairs shed temporarily between weeks 2 and 8, new growth begins around months 3–4, and the result matures over 6–12 months. The head doctor reviews your progress together at each follow-up visit.
What graft survival rate can I expect?
It varies with scalp condition and the treated area, but through a process designed to minimize follicle damage from extraction to placement, you can generally expect a graft survival rate of 95% or higher.
When can I wash my hair?
Gentle washing usually starts on day 3–4 following the method we guide you through, and from about a week on you can wash as usual. We help you with the first wash in person when you visit.
